Ecstatic Tragedy

Life isn’t a dream
Nightmare claiming to be
Stealing all your hopes
And all your integrity
Darkness falls quietly
He says he likes it so
On the night of the eve
When the cold wind does blow
He turns his head abruptly
Seeming to feel unease
You stand over him, crying
He answers with his pleas
Holding a knife
Hung high above his heart
This one had gotten to you
So you got the head start
His pleading does stop
The cold night on the eve
You walk away with a smile
And his cold blood on your sleeve
